«Oase zum Sein»: Studio or Double Room for your dream vacation in Spiez

Our little town is not only surrounded by magnificent nature – Spiez is also a strategic transport hub: thanks to its central location, it can be reached quickly and easily from the airports and cities of Zurich and Geneva and is an ideal starting point for the touristic attractions of the Bernese Oberland, Valais and whole Switzerland. The larger neighboring town of Thun can be reached by train in 10 minutes and Bern, the capital of Switzerland, in 30 minutes. To Interlaken - the starting point for excursions such as the Jungfraujoch or Schilthorn – you only need 15 minutes by train, to Visp in Valais (e.g. for an excursion to Zermatt) 30 minutes are sufficient. Spiez is therefore one of the best locations for excursions and sightseeings in all directions. Back from your tours and wanderings, numerous restaurants, some of them in cozy lakeside locations, offer a wide range of culinary delights.

But Spiez also has plenty of culture to offer: whether it's Spiez Castle overlooking the unique bay of Lake Thun, the beautiful medieval churches, places of worship or places of power, as well as concerts and events – there's something for everyone! If the weather is bad, you can walk to the town's pleasant cinema in just a few minutes.

And for those who prefer sports: from Spiez you can hike, walk along the beach path from Spiez to Faulensee, go out on a mountain bike or racing bike, play minigolf, enjoy all kinds of water sports and, of course, swim and bathe in the clean waters of Lake Thun. Longer boat trips on this alpine lake are also tempting. Other special and well-known natural sites are within easy reach of Spiez: Griesalp with the steepest post bus road in Europe, Suld-, Diemtig- and Simmental with their famous, traditional wooden chalets, Blausee and Oeschinensee ... I should also mention the mighty pyramid of the mountain of Niesen, which rises into the sky behind the village, can be easily reached by cogwheel train and offers an overwhelming panorama.
